MOTION

 

Upon recommendation of Debra N. Pospiech, Chief General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit, Water and Sewerage Department authorizes the Director to approve DWSD Contract 20-5543 between DWSD and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) regarding DWSD’s payment for a damaged MDOT traffic signal caused by a DWSD water main leak.  This also authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote. 

 

 

BACKGROUND / JUSTIFICATION

 

DWSD has a water main at the intersection of Highway M-85 (Fort Street) and Griswold in the City of Detroit that is leaking. The water main leak has impacted the traffic signal foundation and signal cabinet at the intersection of Highway M-85(Fort Street) and Griswold and requires replacement. 

 

 

PROCUREMENT METHOD

 

This contract was not procured. It is an intergovernmental agreement between DWSD and the Michigan Department of Transportation and DWSD. While this agreement is within the Director’s approval threshold, MDOT requested a certified resolution from the Board of Water Commissioners.
