RE:                     Updated Salary Ranges for various classifications

MOTION

Upon recommendation of Tiffany Jones, Interim Director of Human Resources & Organizational Development, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department approves the updated salary ranges for various classifications and authorizes the Director to take such action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.

BACKGROUND/JUSTIFICATION

In September, the Official Compensation Schedule, including new classifications and salary ranges, was presented to the Board of Water Commissioners. The schedule was developed following a comprehensive compensation study, which determined that DWSD was not consistently paying at or above market rates for certain classifications.

As a result, a revised salary structure was created, assigning each position an appropriate market-aligned pay range. This updated structure was reviewed by the Human Resources Committee on September 3, 2025, and subsequently approved by the Board at its regular meeting on September 17, 2025.

These classifications were not previously presented to this Honorable Body.
