MOTION

Upon recommendation of Marqaicha Welch, Procurement Manager, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit, Water and Sewerage Department authorizes the Director to approve DWSD Contract 6004687 with Underground Infrastructure Services for Hydro Excavation Services in Detroit for a total contract amount not-to-exceed $154,000 and a term of three (3) years. This also authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.


BACKGROUND / JUSTIFICATION
The State of Michigan's Lead and Copper rule requires that communities around the state turn in a "Complete Inventory" to EGLE. The purpose of this inventory is to show where lead and copper service lines are throughout around Michigan. At first, accomplishing this task would have meant digging up every stop box in Detroit and reporting our findings. Thanks to an update of the rule, Detroit can still satisfy the requirement with far fewer excavations.
