(8) Leak Trucks with Underbody Compressors and Hydraulic Tools - One Time Purchase

MOTION
Upon recommendation of Marcus Hudson, Chief Finance Officer, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit, Water and Sewerage Department authorizes the Director to secure the purchase of eight (8) Leak Trucks to Tri-County International Trucks at $1,740,120.00 and also authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.


JUSTIFICATION
These units are custom built with underbody compressors and hydraulic tools and are utilized to support mechanical repairs, maintenance operations, to transport personnel and equipment to water transmission repair sites throughout the City of Detroit. Due to the emergency response nature of these vehicles, it is DWSD's intent to ensure that the entire fleet of leak trucks are as up-to-date as possible. During emergencies, these vehicles will serve to deliver needed equipment and personnel safely to and from repair sites. These vehicles will be used to replace current vehicles that are in ill-repair which are no longer cost-effective to repair.
