RE:                                          Personnel Evaluation of Director Gary A. Brown

 

MOTION

Upon the request of Chief General Counsel Debra N. Pospiech, Esq., the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, by an affirmative roll call vote of 2/3 of the Board Members appointed and serving, hereby resolves to meet in closed session pursuant to Section 8(a) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act to consider a periodic personnel evaluation of Director Gary A Brown who has requested a closed hearing. 

 

BACKGROUND

Section 8(a) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act allow a public body to meet in closed session: “To consider . . . a periodic personnel evaluation of, a public officer, employee, staff member, or individual agent, if the named person requests a closed hearing.”   Director Gary A Brown requested a closed session during the last Ad Hoc Committee meeting and repeats his closed session request for continued discussion of his performance evaluation.   

 

Section 7 of the Act requires an affirmative roll call vote of 2/3 of the Board Members appointed and serving to approve a closed session.
