MOTION
Upon recommendation of Thomas Naughton, CFO, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit, Water and Sewerage Department authorizes the Director to secure a secondary contract with Core & Main LP for Interruption and Restoration Parts for a total amount not to exceed $1,799,015.76 for a duration of three (3) years, and also authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND
In 2014, the federal government mandated that potable water brass parts must be lead-free. This secondary contract will furnish lead-free brass fittings of various sizes and types and will also serve to replenish stock levels preventing emergency spot buys and possible work stoppage in the event the primary supplier cannot provide the items for interruptions and restoration projects.
JUSTIFICATION
This contract will serve to ensure that brass fittings are available for repairing water service connections for DWSD customers without stoppage.
