MOTION
Upon recommendation of Thomas Naughton, Chief Finance Officer, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit, Water and Sewerage Department authorizes the Director to secure a blanket purchase agreement for Seasonal Rock Salt as part of State of Michigan MI-Deal Contract #071B1300339 with Detroit Salt Company in the amount not to exceed $187,260.00 and also authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of the vote.
JUSTIFICATION
The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) Office of Purchasing requests the approval of this contract primarily because it is anchored to the State of Michigan contract and as such represents the lowest acceptable price. Road salt is used by the department during the winter seasons to accelerate the melting of snow and, therefore, minimize injuries to the public as well as to employees.
