MOTION
Upon recommendation of Mamata Burgi, Purchasing Manager, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit, Water and Sewerage Department authorizes the Director to approve DWSD Amendment No. 2 to a contract with T & N Services for repair clamps; the amendment adds $240,000 in funding for a total amended contract not-to-exceed amount of $817,247, and extends the term for an additional 6 months. The BOWC also authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND / JUSTIFICATION
DWSD warehouses secure, store and issue repair parts from inventory, including various sizes of clamps which are used by the Maintenance & Repair Division to repair broken water mains throughout the City of Detroit. It is critical to DWSD operations to keep repair clamps stocked in the event of a water main break, especially in the winter months.
Therefore, an amendment is being requested to add funds and extend the term of this contract for an additional 6 months to allow for time to competitively solicit and award a new contract for the purchase of repair clamps. The existing vendor has agreed to hold its pricing through the amended contract term.
PROCUREMENT METHOD
This contract was competitively solicited through a Request For Bids (RFB) and was awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, T&N Services, Inc., which is a certified Detroit Based Business. The initial contract was approved by the BOWC on June 21, 2017. The DWSD BOWC approved Amendment No. 1 adding $307,675.75 on March 29, 2019.
