MOTION
Upon recommendation of Patricia Thornhill, Director of Human Resources/Organizational Development, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit Water and Sewerage Department:
1.) Approves the Collective Bargaining Agreement for 2021-2024 between the DWSD and the Association of Municipal Engineers;
2.) Authorizes the Director to execute the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and
3.) Authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.
BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
DWSD Human Resources submitted under separate cover the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Association of Municipal Engineers (AME) having a term ending July 1, 2024, for your approval. The Union ratified the CBA on June 12, 2021. As such, we respectfully request that your Honorable Body approve the Agreement.
The AME currently has 22 DWSD members. There is one classification, "Engineer," with four different levels. The current staffing complement is as follows:
? Engineer 1 - 13 employees
? Engineer 2 - 8 employees
? Engineer 3 - 0 employees
? Engineer 4 - 1 employee
This is the first CBA between AME and DWSD since bifurcation. AME did not ratify a contract prior to the Emergency Manager's departure and were placed on City's Employment Terms...
