MOTION

The Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit, Water and Sewerage Department authorizes the Director to approve Contract 6003975 with Metron-Farnier, LLC for as needed 2-inch meters for a duration of one (1) year and an amount not-to-exceed $147,875. This also authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.


BACKGROUND / JUSTIFICATION

DWSD Meter Operations Department discovered that customers have made plumbing repairs based on diagrams/instructions that show incorrect plumbing dimensions for existing meters. Meter Operations thought they had a simple fix, by using another vendor's meter model that was currently available in inventory that is compatible with our current AMR system and programmable. However, because this alternate meter is a longer meter, it would require customers to change their meter set-up to accommodate a longer meter. This would create an additional increased cost of approximately $3,000 for each customer
