MOTION
Upon recommendation of Mamata Burgi, Procurement Manager, the Board of Water Commissioners for the City of Detroit, Water and Sewerage Department, authorizes the Director to approve a contract with Pipetek Infrastructure Services for Sewer Condition Assessment Services in Various Locations Throughout the City of Detroit for a total amount not-to-exceed $2,965,900.84 for a term of 1 year and also authorizes the Director to take such other action as may be necessary to accomplish the intent of this vote.


BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION
The existing DWSD sewer system within the City limits (approximately 3,000 miles of sewers ranging from 8" thru 168") is estimated to be older than 90 years. Due to the advanced age of the existing pipes, degradation is proceeding at an increasing rate. Some sewer lines are near the point of collapse and immediate emergency action is often required.
